Harvest has become the go-to time tracking and billing tool for solo practitioners and small law firms that want simplicity, accuracy and clean invoicing, without the overhead of a full practice management system.
The legal market is moving beyond the traditional billable hour. More firms are offering flat-fee services, capped fees, and other alternative pricing models to stay competitive and meet client expectations. Harvest supports that shift by giving lawyers a clear way to track time and budgets behind the scenes, even when the final price is not strictly hourly. That means firms can price with more confidence, protect profitability, and deliver fee arrangements that better reflect how legal services are being sold today.
Legal work is not just about tracking time, it is also about keeping matters financially on track. Harvest helps lawyers monitor hours against a project, manage capped budgets, or set monthly recurring budgets. Real-time budget tracking across projects gives your firm the data it needs to make informed decisions, protect margins, and have honest conversations with clients before a matter overruns.
Many lawyers do not need a bloated practice management platform with dozens of modules they will never use. Harvest stands out because it stays focused on what it does best: time tracking, expense capture, budgeting, and invoicing support. That simplicity means less friction for lawyers and less money spent on unnecessary functionality.
Log a billable time entry to Harvest straight from the email that prompted the work. Select the project, task type, duration and billable status — without leaving Outlook.
Capture a client expense from an email and send it directly to Harvest with description, amount, category and date — linked to the right project.
All you need to get ready:
The biggest billing leak in any law firm is time that gets forgotten between the work and the timesheet. With InFiler, a lawyer can log time to Harvest the moment they finish reading or responding to a client or other counsel's correspondence, before context fades and hours go unbilled. Forget the end-of-week scramble through your inbox trying to track where your time went and bill directly from where the work actually happens.
Client disbursements and expenses often arrive as emails: courier confirmations, filing fee receipts, vendor invoices. InFiler lets lawyers capture those expenses directly from the email into Harvest, linked to the right project and client, without manual re-entry and uploads. At the end of your billing cycle, all expenses are already tracked and ready to go with your invoicing.

Yes. InFiler pulls your existing Harvest projects and tasks when logging time or expenses, so your projects need to exist in Harvest first. InFiler does not create projects.

Yes. When logging time from InFiler, you select from all active projects in your Harvest account. InFiler then filters available task types to only those assigned to that project.
Yes. Each lawyer connects InFiler using their own Harvest Personal Access Token and Account ID, scoped to their own Harvest user permissions.
